Addition Polymerization

BY: BROOKE AND KIERRA

Introduction:

Addition Polymerization is a polymer by addition reactions between monomers that have a double bond. Polymers are large molecules made of many small units joined to each other through organic reactions. The electrons in the double bond are used to bond two monomer molecules together. In the complete polymer, all of the double bonds have been turned into single bonds. The double bonds in the addition polymerization are unsaturated. A simple polymerization is -[A-A-A-A-A]-.

Examples of Reaction:

Molecules of ethene can polymerize with each other to form polyethene, know as polyethylene.
